Ngwuta: Nigeria’s third most senior judge dies

Justice Sylvester Ngwuta of the Supreme Court of Nigeria is dead.

TheCable quoted the apex court’s spokesman, Ahuraka Isah as confirming the judge’s death Sunday morning.

Before his demise, Justice Ngwuta was the third-highest ranking judge of the Supreme Court.

Isah said that the judge had been ill for some time but gave up the ghost on Sunday.

According to him, Justice Ngwuta was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on Thursday after his illness took a turn for the worse.

However, he explained that the judge tested negative when he was subjected to COVID-19 tests.

Lamenting the judge’s death, Isah said, “We were already preparing for his valedictory service slated for March 30.”
