Nicki Minaj’s ex-boyfriend, Safaree Samuels was the victim of a robbery which was carried out at gunpoint.
The rapper claimed that the incident happened Monday (Apr. 2) in Fort Lee around 2 a.m.
While speaking to WWPR-FM, the 36-year-old claimed that two men ran up and had him face down on the ground with a gun to his head. Police say the suspects stole $183,000 in cash and jewellery.
The police confirmed the incident stating that the assailants fled the scene in a car and the police gave chase. He added that the driver lost control and crashed into a concrete divider, and three people ran from the scene. Police have arrested two suspects and charged them with robbery.
Speaking on the incident, Safaree said; “I just got robbed at gunpoint. A couple hours ago,
“Two dudes with guns just ran up on me. Had me face down to the floor with a gun to my head. They just took everything.”
According to TMZ, Safaree even knew one of the assailants as a picture obtained by TMZ shows one of the robbers posing with Safaree and Nicki Minaj.
TMZ reports that the pic was taken in either 2011 or 2012 at a club in Queens for Safaree’s birthday.
