David Lyon’s Sack: Niger Delta Militants threaten to Bomb Oil Facilities

Niger Delta militants have threatened to destroy oil facilities following the nullification of David Lyon’s election victory by the Supreme court.

The Herald recalls that the apex court sacked David Lyon, Governor-Elect and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) due to discrepancies in the documents tendered by his running mate, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo

However, militants under the aegis of Reformed Niger Delta Avengers (RNDA) have vowed to bomb oil pipelines if David Lyon’s mandate is not restored.

The group in a letter addressed to the Presidency and Supreme court disclosed that their participation in operation ceasefire to restore peace and calm in the Niger Delta region may come to a halt if the court does not reverse its judgment.

The letter was signed by the nine leaders in the nine Niger-Delta states led by Major General Johnmark Ezon Ebi popularly called Obama

Excerpts of the letter reads, “In the case of Bayelsa State election,  David Lyon won with a wide margin of total vote cast across the entire 8 Local government Areas of Bayelsa State.

“David Lyon was declared the winner of the governorship election which was well accepted by all sons and daughters of Bayelsa State.

“He remains the choice of the people. REFORMED NIGER DELTA AVENGERS (RNDA ) will not fold its arms and watch democracy rubbish in Nigeria.

“The RNDA should not be held responsible for whatever havoc and colossal damage that will occur in the creek to cripple the economy of the country, we will show an example soon. We mean business,”

“The RNDA should not be held responsible for whatever damage that will lead to the bombing of oil pipelines to cripple the economy of the country.”
