Niger Government-owned teachers training institute commences academic activities Oct.6

The Teachers Training Institute being established by Niger government is to commence academic activities on Oct.16, with secondary school students selected from the 25 local government areas of the state.

Mrs Fatima Madugu, state Commissioner for Education, who disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Monday, said N290 million was earmarked for the establishment of the institute, to be sited in Maraban Dan-Daudu town in Shiroro Local Government area.

She said that part of the money had been expended on provision of structures, instructional materials and purchase of school uniforms for students.

The commissioner said that the government intended establishing similar institute in other zones of the state, with a view to providing students with requisite training to enable them become good teachers in future.

 

 

She advised the students to make use of the opportunity to acquire teaching skills so as to become professional teachers
