Nigeria Army Eliminate 20 Boko Haram/ISWAP Terrorists in Baga

Nigeria Army Troops belonging to Operation Lafiya Dole eliminated at least 20 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Baga, Borno state over the weekend

The troops of 130 Battalion supported by troops from the Army Super Camp at Baga had a fierce encounter with the terrorists who were going to raid villages in the area.

The news of the encounter was announced in a press release by Defence Headquarters who described it as a victory for Nigerian troops with only six wounded soldiers from the incident.

The Boko Haram terrorists attacked from the west of the area armed with mortars, rocket propelled grenades and small arms. They were however overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the Nigerian Army who routed the terrorists.

At the end of the encounter, 20 Boko Haram terrorists lay dead and six AK-47 rifles, 520 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition as well as 536 hand grenades were recovered by troops.

Wounded soldiers in the encounter were flown to sector 3 hospital for immediate treatment.

The Chief of Army Staff commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism, urging them to put a quick end to the terrorists.
