Nigeria Does Not Need Restructuring – NGO

A non-governmental and human rights organization, the Africa Action for Democracy (UAD), has faulted agitations for the restructuring of the nation.

According to the group in a press conference, Tuesday, the separatists agitations of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), as well as the quit notice by youths from the north, would not solve the nation’s problems.

Instead, convener of the group, Gabriel Ojumah, said that the change in the political class is what the country needs, not restructuring.

“Nigeria has moved from regional government to federal system of government yet things are not working right,” Ojumah said. “What we need is not a geo-political restructuring but a change in the ruling class of the country.”

Continuing, he noted that, “should Nigeria divide today, the known cabals in the leadership of the country will continue ruling in the various parts of the country hence we still come back to square one.”
