The Senator for Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, Shehu Sani, has described Nigeria as a nation of “ceaseless bereavement” and “endless funeral service”.

He stated this in a tweet on Tuesday in apparent reaction to fresh killing of 11 people in Gora Gan village, Zangon Kataf LGA of Southern Kaduna on Monday night.

This followed the killing of 21 persons in Kukum Daji village by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Kaura LGA, also in Southern Kaduna on Sunday.

On Saturday, 16 soldiers were killed and 28 wounded in an ambush by bandits in Katsina State. Three officers – a major, a captain and a lieutenant – were among those killed in the attack.

In response, the Senate today asked the service chiefs to “step aside” following Saturday’s incident.

Reacting, the vocal senator lamented the deteriorating security in the country.

He also described the “mass killings” and “mass burials” taking place “every day” in the country.

Sani wrote, “Mass killings and mass burials everyday;a nation in ceaseless bereavement and endless funeral service.”
