A prominent Nigerian activist, Adetoun Adeniyi, has called for greater public support and protection of indigenous airlines, particularly Air Peace, describing it as a national asset.
Adeniyi’s remarks come amid ongoing criticism of the airline, especially concerning its passenger luggage policies. She urged Nigerians to uphold the same standards they apply abroad, arguing that local airlines deserve fair treatment.
“We cannot try this in a foreign land,” she said, condemning what she described as double standards in consumer expectations.
The activist further emphasized the importance of adhering to aviation safety regulations, noting that “every aircraft has a maximum take-off weight, and if the exact weight being carried is not declared, it could lead to unsafe operations or even accidents.”
Her comments have ignited discussions among Nigerians, with many supporting the call to protect indigenous businesses. However, some critics argue that local airlines must also improve their service delivery to gain public trust.
