Nigerian Army Allegedly Conducts Secret Trial for Soldier Who Abused Service Chiefs

A report by Premium Times has alleged that the Nigerian Army is conducting a secret trial for a Soldier who abused service chiefs and called for them to step down.

Staff Sergeant Mohammed Abdullahi abused the military service chiefs in a video that went viral on social media after his unit suffered a Boko Haram ambush.

The staff sergeant stands accused of criticising the extension of the tenure of the military service chiefs. His outburst has reportedly affected the morale of troops fighting against insurgents in the Northeast.

The findings of the Army Intelligence Corps which interrogated the staff sergeant will form the basis of the secret trial according to Premium Times.

The embattled military personnel is also accused of going against the Nigerian Military policy on social media use by its personnel enacted in 2018.

Army spokesperson, Sagir Musa however said he was unaware of a secret trial.

“I’m not aware of this! But if you have any document or evidence indicating there is such development kindly forward it to me to facilitate or assist in finding out so that I can brief you accordingly. He said when contacted.
