The Nigerian Army has demoted an officer, Ibrahim Sani from the office of a Major General to that of a Brigadier-General.

The move was declared by a special military court martial led by AVM James Gbum over the case involving a one time Chief of Transformation and Innovation Centre of the Nigerian Army.

Sani’s demotion comes after he was accused of cheating, dividing and allocating the military property to himself.

According to the court martial, Sani was found guilty of the five-count charge levelled against him which included his allocation of land belonging to the Nigerian Army to himself.

The court further in its decision stated that the convict should return the sum of N23million, the amount which he got after selling part of the land belonging to the Nigerian Army to himself.

The court document further revealed that Sani fraudulently allocated 436 hectares of land in Abuja to himself and thereafter and sold it.

The Nigerian Army Officer’s counsel, Mr Paul Sule (SAN), has however revealed that his client will appeal the decision of the court to the army council.
