Nigerian Breweries, Sterling Bank, Others sued for Copyright Infringement

Internal Pageant & Films (the company that owns Lagos Fashion Week) have sued Nigerian Breweries along with Bank of Industry, Sterling Bank Plc, Guardian Newspaper, Genevieve Magazine, Uber Nigeria and Segun Awolowo’s Nigerian Export Promotion Council for copyright infringement.

Nigerian Breweries is being sued for  hosting, the “Heineken Lagos Fashion and Design Week 2015”, a show that Internal Pageant feel is similar to Lagos Fashion Week without paying any royalty to them.

They are claiming damages (amongst other things) to the tune of N1.7 trillion Naira or $3.5billion dollars against Nigerian Breweries.

According to the court documents, Nigerian Breweries is listed as the principal defendants as they are top of the list but are joined by  Bank of Industry, Sterling Bank Plc, Guardian Newspaper, Genevieve Magazine, Uber Nigeria and Segun Awolowo’s Nigerian Export Promotion Council as co-defendants.

The case against Nigerian Breweries and the co-infringers would commence on August 2nd, 2016, at 9:00am at Federal High Court 11, Abuja.
