Nigerian Footballer Arrested With Drugs, Jailed In Cambodia

A Nigerian man who identified himself as a footballer by the name Francis Ihenwe Oderah has been sentenced to jail and fined the sum of $10,000 for drug trafficking.

The 30-year-old was yesterday sentenced to 8 years imprisonment along with the $10,000 fine by the Phnom Penh Municipal Court.

Francis who was arrested in January was reported to have had in his possession 100 grams of the illegal substance. He was arrested in Phnom Penh’s Choam Chao commune.

During his trial, Francis pleaded guilty as he admitted he was a middle man in the delivery chain. He plead he was not the dealer of the illegal substance as test result of the meth found on him returned with a 72% purity level.

Francis will serve his jail term at the Prey Sar prison where he has been detained since his arrest in January.
