A Nigerian man, Daniel Kadima has allegedly beat his mother to death with a chair. Kadima is accused of killing Hauwa Kadima on July 27 in her Longview apartment.

Mother of four, Hauwa Esther Kadima, 61, was an accomplished professor of languages, and a published author.

The documents show that Kadima is believed to have called 911 to “report a death.” He said “somebody is in Regency Park apartments” and the last time he saw the person they looked deceased.

Officers say they found Hauwa Kadima lying on the floor of her apartment next to a broken wooden chair.

A preliminary autopsy shed light on what happened to Hauwa Kadima, saying she died of blunt force injuries to the head and had a fractured skull.

Neighbours believe Daniel has showed signs of mental illness. In the affidavit, Kadima’s ex-wife says “I feel Daniel has an unstable mental status. He was diagnosed with a mental health problem during our marriage, but would not take his medicine.”

She goes on to say, “I have a serious fear that he is going to hurt or kill us as his mother has now been murdered.”

In a sworn affidavit she says, “police have notified me that Daniel’s mother was found murdered in her apartment. They say he is the person they believe beat his mother to death. I am in shock over this and now believe my safety and life are in danger.”

Daniel Kadima, a classmate of popular Nigeria music star, is being held in the Gregg County jail on a $1,005,500 bond.

Dr. Kadima was a long-time professor of languages and mass communications at the University of Jos, Nigeria, where for many years she also served as a Head of Department. She was born in 1953 in the village of Bakin Kogi in the southern part of the State of Kaduna.
