First Lady of Nigerian hip-hop, Yetunde Alabi, popularly known as Sasha P turned an inspirational speaker recently when she urged children to dream the impossible and pursue their passion, saying that discovering of talent as a child requires improvement and prayer.

Sasha P, who was guest at the 2013 Teach Children To Save (TCTS) summit held in Lagos, as she marked her birthday, explained that her becoming a hip-hop rap artist was borne out of her passion for rap, which motivated her despite studying law in the university.

In her words: “When you find your passion, you will dine and wine with kings and queens. This is why I have come to speak to you about passion. Outside music, like some of you know, I have passion for clothing and as a motivational speaker. When I was studying law, I had passion for rap and Eve was the artist that I was imitating then.

“I liked Eve and I was rapping some of her songs. I would go and sign autograph like a star. But ten years later, I found myself on the same stage, performing with the same Eve. When you believe in yourself, you motivate yourself.”

Project Director of Financial Literacy for All, Mr Laja Shoniran, who spoke on the title “Budgeting To Save” urged children not to bother about their want, but to imbibe the culture of saving in order to be able to meet up with certain future challenges. Shoniran pointed out that our young ones need to know their need and their want.
