Nigerians from all walks of life, including celebrities, have taken to social media to mourn with award-winning artiste, Davido and his partner, Chioma over the death of their son, Ifeanyi.
News filtered in on Monday evening that three-year-old Ifeanyi drowned in a pool in the couple’s home in the highbrow Banana Island in Lagos.
He was said to have been rushed to a hospital in Lekki, where he was certified dead.
The Herald reached out to the Lagos State Police Command for information about the incident but a response is still being awaited.
However, TheCable quoted the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin as confirming the incident on Tuesday morning.
Hundeyin said that some domestic staff of the couple have been taken into custody to answer questions about the incident.
“There’s not much to say. Some domestic staff were brought in for questioning to find out what they know about it. Anybody found culpable or guilty of negligence will stay back and assist in the ongoing investigation,” Hundeyin was quoted to have said.
Since the news broke, many Nigerians have been commiserating with the couple over the incident.
