Nigerians React to Abuja Rail Project

Transportation has always been a problem in the country one in which could be solved with a functioning rail system.

While many acknowledge that a rail system would be immensely beneficial, others doubt that the current government can actually maintain one.

This point of view was expressed by the majority of Nigerians on Twitter after the Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad tweeted that the Abuja Metro would soon be commissioned by the President.

The Rail project which is attached to the hashtag  #RailUpNG according to the Punch has claimed that the Federal Capital Territory has taken delivery of three coaches that are meant for the trial operations of the Abuja Light Rail.

It has been reported that the rail will be tested by both experts and passengers and that the 12 stations on the Abuja Light Rail Phase 1 corridor have been completed.

Nigerians have however received the news with a great deal of skepticism with many asking various questions

IBK said; Are u sure dis are in Nigeria or pictures from d net pls? Just hopeful we ll be having a modern/clean transportation system &dat we cld ve dis in my lifetime here, don’t want my hope dashed

Adamu Bako Muhammad asked; How soon is the commissioning going to be. Let PMB put it in his campaign bag. What about the Itakpe warri line? When is it coming on stream or rolling on

Another Twitter user said; Why not wait till its commissioned, soon to be commissioned, its our usual English
