NiMet predicts thundery, cloudy, rainy weather

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather conditions over the central states of the country on Wednesday morning with localised thunderstorms over Abuja, Kaduna, Kano and Zaria.

This is contained in the Weather Outlook issued by NiMet’s Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Tuesday.

It stated that localised thunderstorms would prevail over the high grounds areas later in the day with maximum day time temperatures of 28 to 34 degrees Celsius.

The agency predicted that the Southern states would experience cloudy condition over the entire inland cities in the morning with maximum day time temperatures of 31 to 33 degrees Celsius.

It added that there would be possibilities of isolated thunderstorms over Lagos, Port Harcourt, Calabar, Warri, Osogbo , Akure, Ibadan, Owerri and Awka during the afternoon and evening hours.

NiMet also predicted that Northern states would experience cloudy conditions over Sokoto, Potiskum, Yelwa and Nguru in the morning with chances of localised thunderstorms over Kano and Katsina axis.

It added that there would be localised thunderstorms over Maiduguri in the afternoon with maximum day time temperatures of 33 to 37 degrees Celsius.

According to the prediction, observation shows some prospects of rainfall activities over some cities in the country in the next 24 hours. (NAN)
