DSS Operatives Take Over High Court Ahead Of Kanu's Trial

A group of heavily armed DSS operatives have surrounded the Federal High Court, Maitama, Abuja ahead of the court appearance of the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu will be appearing before Justice Binta Nyako for a continuation of his trial.

It can be recalled that Kanu jumped bail and fled Nigeria in 2017 until his recent re-arrest in Kenya. He is facing several charges ranging from terrorist, illegal possession of firearms, and treasonable felony.

Several armed masked officers were seen in the area restricting both human and vehicular movement. Some are stationed at the entrance of the Federal High Court with motorbikes and vehicles.

It is believed that this development is to prevent a total breakdown of order as hundreds of members of IPOB are expected to be at the court premises to show solidarity with their leader.

Earlier today, Kanu’s legal counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor admonished members of the group who will be in court to witness proceedings to be civil and avoid violence.
