Nnamdi Kanu’s UK citizenship must be revoked, the Conference of Igbo Youth Professionals Worldwide (CIYPW) has told the United Kingdom (UK) government.

Kanu, who is the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), holds dual Nigerian and UK citizenship.

According to a statement by CIYPW’s President-General, Maduabuchi Nwodo, the IPOB leader has been taking advantage of his UK citizenship to incite mayhem in Nigeria.

He said Nnamdi Kanu’s UK citizenship must therefore be revoked.

Nwodo noted that Kanu’s IPOB was a terrorist organisation as declared by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

He therefore urged Ndigbo home and in diaspora to denounce Kanu, IPOB and all the group stands for.

Nwodo’s statement was in response to Kanu’s call on security agents in Nigeria to resign and burn their uniforms.

“We are disturbed at the incessant inciting statements coming from Kanu against the Nigerian state. We are aware of his status as a citizen of both the UK and the Nation of Israel.

“Having worked to see Nigeria at its present state, we believe the UK and Israel would not want to see Nigeria a shattered place. It is in this regard that we appeal to them to rein in on Kanu because his activities have been against Nigeria’s unity.

“The latest call by Kanu on some security agencies to abandon their duty post, resign and burn their uniforms must be ignored. Kanu is alone in his cessation project and has nobody behind him,” Nwodo said.
