North East Governors Buni, Zulum Back Tinubu for Second Term, Cite Reforms and Security Gains

Governors Mai Mala Buni of Yobe and Babagana Zulum of Borno have declared their support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing his administration’s achievements in economic reforms and security improvements.
The endorsement came during the All Progressives Congress (APC) North East Consultative Forum meeting held in Gombe, where both governors praised Tinubu’s leadership and called on party stakeholders to back a second term.
Governor Buni highlighted the president’s “bold reforms” over the past two years, saying they are laying the groundwork for national development despite initial challenges. According to him, these policies require continuity beyond a single term for their full impact to be realized.

“President Tinubu has introduced strategic policies that need time to mature and deliver long-term benefits,” Buni said. “A single term may not be enough for full implementation. To ensure lasting change, more than one term is necessary.”
Buni also credited the administration with introducing new security measures in the North East, which he said are helping displaced residents return to their farms—an important step toward food sufficiency and economic recovery.
“The security situation is improving, and people are beginning to return to their livelihoods. This is a result of renewed efforts under President Tinubu,” he added.
Governor Zulum echoed similar sentiments, commending Tinubu’s handling of insecurity in the North East. He noted that progress is becoming increasingly visible, and that the region is gradually regaining peace and stability.
Zulum expressed support for Buni’s call, urging the APC North East Forum to formally endorse President Tinubu’s candidacy for the 2027 elections.
“President Tinubu’s administration is steadily restoring normalcy in the North East. His return in 2027 will sustain the momentum of development across critical sectors,” Zulum said.
Both governors appealed to citizens in the region to continue supporting the federal government and security agencies in their efforts to consolidate peace and growth.
