The Northern Youth Leaders Forum (NYLF) has warned politicians from the Southern region of the country to stop ‘scheming’ for the Presidency.

It is rumoured that President Muhammadu Buhari who is in the United Kingdom for medical treatment, may not contest in 2019.

According to the leader of the group, Comrade Elliot Afiyo, who gave this warning, the North will never allow the South to have the Presidential seat in 2019, adding that any political party that fields a Southern candidate is simply committing political suicide.

“We want to reiterate and clearly warn that the North will not, and will never allow presidency to move to the South in 2019,” he said.

“As much as we can tolerate or pay any sacrifice for the unity of this country, we remain committed to a northern president in 2019.

“We want to send a message to all political parties that may field southern presidential candidates in 2019 election that such action will amount to committing a political suicide.”

The group warned northern leaders to desist from supporting any southerner for the 2019 election even as he said that the quit notice issued on Igbos by some northern youths, was ill-timed.
