Sadaukin Shinkafi, the traditional title conferred on former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has caused a division in Zamafara emirate as other Chieftains issue 24-hour ultimatum to Emir of Shinkafi, Alhaji Muhammad Makwashe to withdraw the title.
The Emir had earlier conferred the title on Fani-Kayode as a way of appreciating the former Minister for his undying support and contribution to the progress of the Emirate.
However, Dr Sulaiman Shuaibu Shinkafi who is Sarkin Shanun Shinkafi and Dr. Tijjani Salihu Shinkafi the ‘Sarkin Marayun Shinkafi’ have relinquished their titles to protest the conferment of northern royalty on Fani-Kayode.
According to the two Chiefs, the former Aviation Minister who is known for constantly insulting northern culture and religion, is not befitting of a position in Zamfara emirate.
They have given the Emir 24-hour ultimatum to withdraw the title or risk the wrath of the people.
“We view this conferment against the functions and ideas of traditional councils such as contribution to development of administration, economic policy, security, culture, customs, religious dispute and general well-being of the citizens.
“The conferment is not in conformity with any of the above core values. Conferment should be based on these important principles (and) not politically instigated to divide and cause chaos to good citizens of Zamfara State, Northern Nigeria, and Nigeria at large.”
The Cable quoted Dr. Sulaiman Shinkafi saying: “This is a man known to always disrespect and abuse our leaders and forefathers in the region.”
