Some residents of the university town of Nsukka, have commended Mr Samuel Onyishi, Chief Executive Officer of Peace Mass Transit(PMT) for constructing 1.6 km road in his home town, Amaukwa, Nsukka.

They spoke in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria ((NAN) in Nsukka on Tuesday.

They said that the gesture was commendable as the road that terminates at Odim gate, University of Nigeria Nsukka, would ease movement of university staff and students living in the area.

Mr Joseph Aleke, a civil servant, said what Onyishi did showed that he loved his people and can use the money God had given him to solve their problems .

“I commend Onyishi for that kind gesture to his people, which will ease human and vehicular movement in that area.

“Everybody knows about the hard economic situation of the country now, he would have spent millions to construct that road.

“I urge other rich people in the country to emulate what PMT boss did, ” he said.

Mrs Regina Ezema, a secondary school teacher, said she was not surprised on the construction of the road by Onyishi, because he built health centre for his village four years ago.

“Not only that he built health centre for his people, he equipped it and is the one paying doctors, nurses and other health personnel working there till today,’’ she said

Cynthia Ogbonna, a student of the Department of Economics, University of Nigeria Nsukka, said movement was now easy after the tarring of the road.

“Students are happy as many of them living in this area go to school every day through this road.

“Wealthy people in the country should emulate Onyishi in order to help government in developing their areas since government cannot do it alone.

“I commend the owner of PMT for the construction of the road, and I pray God to replenish his pocket,” she said

NAN recalls that Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, on Friday inaugurated the 1.6 km road tarred by Onyishi. (NAN)
