A former Governor of Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo, says the 2023 presidency should go to the South East geopolitical zone.

He said an Igbo man or woman should be supported by other zones to emerge president in the interest of fairness, equity and justice.

Nwobodo equally appealed to all political parties to pick their presidential candidates from the South East in 2023.

The ex-governor made the call on Monday while receiving a chieftaincy title in his country home in Enugu.

“2023 will be the turn of South East to produce the Nigerian president. So, I am calling on other parts of the country to support the project for the interest of justice, equity and fair play.

“The South East geopolitical zone of the country deserves to produce the next president who will succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in the next political dispensation,” Nwodo said.

He described anyone against the 2023 Igbo presidency project as an enemy of Nigeria.

According to him, as a nation existing under a tripartite arrangement of North, South and East, it would be proper for other segments of the country to throw their full weight behind the South East in its quest for the 2023 presidency.
