Contrary to news circulating news about the resignation of the Nigerian Minister of finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, reports have emerged that the Minister was still at her desk, working normally and has not resigned.

This was according to several journalists belonging to the Punch Newspapers who visited the ministry of finance to confirm the news about the finance minister’s resignation as being touted in the Nigerian media.

Kemi Adeosun was reportedly still in her office on the seventh floor of the finance tower at in Abuja around 12pm. Her official vehicles and personal staff were also in the premises at the time.

The minister reportedly worked throughout the day and was still in the office at 4:10pm while newsmen waited to interview her outside.

Officials of the Ministry of finance who pleaded for anonymity reiterated that the staff of the ministry were not aware of any purported resignation of the Finance minister as such news would have been heard by all in the ministry if it was true.

A personal aide of the embattled finance minister also claimed that his boss, Kemi Adeosun has not resigned her ministerial position despite newspaper reports.

News had filtered early on Friday that the minister of finance had submitted her resignation to the presidency without citing reasons.

Speculations were rife within the Nigerian media especially on social media that Mrs. Kemi Adeosun had reportedly resigned because of the NYSC certificate scandal she was embroiled in.

Others reported that the finance minister had been forced out of office by officials within the presidency who were trying to clean house due to the upcoming general elections next year. \

Mrs. Adeosun was accused of allegedly presenting fake a NYSC certificate as part of her credentials; the minister was accused of not going through the mandatory one year of youth service required of every Nigerian graduate below the age of 30.

Citizens of Nigeria are expected to present an NYSC discharge certificate or an exemption letter from the National Youth Service Corps before being granted any form of employment in the country.
