NYSC Scandal: Kemi Adeosun Keeps Mum, Meets IMF Officials – Nigerians React

2 Min Read

Kemi Adeosun, Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, who has been caught up in an NYSC certificate scandal has held a meeting with officials from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Debt Management Office (DMO) on Monday.

This will be the finance minister’s first public appearance since it was revealed that she allegedly forged a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) exemption certificate; an allegation she has neither denied nor accepted.

While reacting to the news, the Press and Public Relations Director of NYSC, Mrs Adenike Adeyemi released a statement that Adeosun did apply for an Exemption Certificate according to its available records. The NYSC also did not disclose if the Minister was issued with the exception or not.

Reacting to the situation however, many Nigerians have reacted that even though they say silence is golden, this particular one could be said to be insulting to the Nation as she is being paid with Taxpayers money and should not be above the law.

Some have also accused her of taking the “COZA” route (a scandal involving pastor Fatoyinbo of COZA who refused to respond to the allegations against him till date) by buying time to give a “robust” reply.
