Mr Abdulsalam Alhassan, NYSC Coordinator in Plateau, has called on employers to provide a conducive atmosphere to maximise the potential of corps members posted to them.
“The corps members are young and ready to initiate projects to assist offices and communities where they are serving. The employers and communities must ensure the right environment to encourage them,” Alhassan said on Monday.
He spoke in Mangu at a ceremony to close the 2018 Batch “B” Orientation Course.
The coordinator said that corps members had proved to be generally creative over the years, noting, however, that they needed the support of their employers and the communities to put in their best.
Alhassan tasked the corps members to serve as agents of positive change in the areas they would serve, urging them to strive to leave lasting legacies that would make the scheme proud.
The official assured the corps members of their safety in Plateau, saying that the state government had made their safety a priority.
Also speaking, Gov. Simon Lalong, assured the corps members of their safety, saying that government was working in collaboration with the various security agencies to protect them from any danger.
Lalong advised corps members to respect the norms and cultures of their host communities, noting that respect was reciprocal.
