Oba Sonariwo, Akarigbo of Remoland dies at 80

It has been announced that Oba Michael Adeniyi Sonariwo, the Akarigbo and paramount ruler of Remoland, is dead.

He died on Saturday the 23rd of July in London at the age of 80.

He had been flown to London on Tuesday to be treated for an illness, but he died yesterday.

P.M News reports that one of the high chiefs of Sagamu, who pleaded anonymity, said that the monarch passed away in the presence of his wife, Olori Abosede Sonariwo.

“He died Saturday evening in UK where he was flown to since July 17 after a brief illness. He joined his ancestors in the presence of his Olori, Abosede, who accompanied him on the medical trip.”

He ascended the throne on the 14th of July 1990 and was a respected philantropist.
