Obaseki Allegedly Seeks Tinubu’s Help as Edo Primaries Draw Near

A report by Daily Times has claimed that the incumbent Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki is seeking the help of national party leader Bola Ahmed Tinubu to clinch a second term ticket on the platform of the the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the report, Obaseki is seeking an audience with Tinubu ahead of the party Governorship primaries scheduled to hold next week.

The move is coming after the National Working Committee of the party adopted direct primaries as well as a waiver for Eze Iyamu, a defector to the party from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest.

It was believed that both policies were adopted to put Obaseki at a disadvantage given the bad blood between him the National Party Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

The report suggested that Oshiomhole is backing Eze Iyamu to be the party’s governorship candidate.

Oshiomhole also contested against Eze Iyamu to retain the governorship of Edo State for a second term.
