Oduah faults House of Reps sack recommendation to President Jonathan

The Minister of Aviation, Ms Stella Oduah, said the recommendations of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation that investigated the purchase of bullet-proof cars did not reflect the proceedings at the hearing.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Joe Obi, the Special Adviser to the Minister on Media.

The statement said the ministry stood by its earlier submissions to the committee that due process was followed in the procurement of the vehicles by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.

It said the evidence before the committee, which was corroborated by the NCAA, showed that the cars were neither purchased for the minister nor in her name.

The statement said the vehicles were included as a line item under the safety and security vehicles sub-head in the Appropriation Act.

The House of Representatives had on Thursday in Abuja adopted the recommendations of its committee and urged President Goodluck Jonathan to review Oduah’s continued engagement as a minister for allegedly violating the 2013 Appropriation Act. (NAN)
