The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has expressed its condolences to Governor Dapo Abiodun and the family of the late Adenike Oyagbola, Nigeria’s first female cabinet minister.
The party highlighted Oyagbola’s significant contributions to the nation, noting that she served with dedication and excellence, laying a strong foundation for economic planning and the country’s prosperity. Oyagbola, a respected educationist and diplomat, passed away on Friday at the age of 94.

In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye, the APC described Oyagbola as a pioneer for women’s empowerment and a diligent public servant who left a lasting impact on the nation. The statement emphasized that Oyagbola, who served as the Minister of National Planning from 1979 to 1983, made remarkable contributions during her tenure.
The party expressed that Ogun State has lost one of its revered icons, whose achievements were both exemplary and inspirational. They extended their condolences to the governor, the people of Ogun State, and the Oyagbola family, praying for eternal rest for the deceased matriarch.
