Ogun police nab notorious cultist with gun during attack on hotel lodgers

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a ‘notorious cultist’, Esuruoso Tunde, for allegedly attacking guests at a hotel in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The suspect, who was identified as a member of the dreaded Eiye Confraternity, got arrested at the Ladis Hotel, Ebenezer Junction, Obantoko, Abeokuta on Monday.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi disclosed the arrest in a statement.

He said that the suspected cultist was arrested following a distress call received by policemen attached to the Obantoko divisional headquarters.

Oyeyemi explained that the police were informed that the hotel was under attack by suspected cultists.

He said that this caused the Obantoko Divisional Police Officer , SP Ignatius Alimiekena to mobilise a patrol team and move to the scene.

The police image-maker said that the police team cordoned off the hotel premises, making it difficult for the hoodlums who had mingled with the customers to get out of the premises.

“A search was properly conducted on everybody on the premises and a locally-fabricated double-barrelled shotgun with one expended cartridge was found on Esuruoso Tunde.

“On interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity, and that the gun was handed over to him by one of his colleagues simply known as Scatter,” the statement further read.
