The Nigeria-Italy match was in the second round of the world cup and while Italy had a red card and Nigeria scored first, the West African nation still somehow contrived to lose the game 2-1 therefore crashing out of the competition.

Roberto Baggio scored both Italy goals after Emmanuel Amuneke had given the Eagles a first-half lead.

Okocha was, however, part of the squad that won gold in the Atlanta 96 Olympics overcoming Argentina and Brazil on their way to the gold medal.
