Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, Primate of all Nigeria and Bishop of Abuja (Anglican Communion), has called on women to always do physical exercise and remain God fearing.

Okoh made the call during the 2017 annual Diocesan Mother’s Sports Fiesta at Anglican Girls’ Grammar School, on Saturday in Abuja.

He said that the women should remain godly quoting the Holy Bible from the Book of 1st Timothy Chapter 4 Verse 8 and explained that the Bible underscores the importance of exercise.

“Everything is going on well but one thing that is very paramount is that the Holy Bible underscores the importance of exercise. Paul wrote to Timothy, he said physical exercise profit us little.

“Achieve the little you can in this sporting event and remain godly.

“We cannot remove the benefit of the little that the Holy Book underscores. It is important for healthy living and also very important for anybody that wants to live long,’’ Okoh said.

Mrs Nkasiobi Okoh, Diocesan President, Mothers’ Union, called on all women of the different dioceses to always do physical exercise and keep fit, even after bearing children.

Okoh explained that the diocesan sport is a family fiesta anchored by the women from different dioceses to come together to keep fit by doing some exercises that would help their bodies.

“It is about women coming together to enjoy themselves and to learn how to exercise their bodies and keep fit.

“Women think that all they have to do is just to sit down, eat and bear children and as they bear these children now, the fat gathers and it is not healthy.

“We have always informed them that they should do exercise at least three times a week.

“If they cannot do the rigorous exercises they should take brisk walks at least for 45 minutes three times a week,’’ she said.

She also called on the men to emulate what the women have started showcasing.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the annual event showcased different activities like: 100m races, dance for Jesus, filling the bottles with balls, filling the baskets with spoons among others. (NAN)
