Okorocha Releases Figures Of Unhappy Nigerians

Controversial Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has rationalised the state’s decision to create a Ministry of Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment, saying Nigerians were becoming unhappier.

He made this known when a delegation of the Nigeria Airforce led by AVM Sampson Akpasa paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Owerri on Sunday.

The governor said about 89 per cent of Nigerians were unhappy while only about 4 per cent can be said to be truly happy.

He attributed the high rate of unhappiness in the land to a disconnect between expectations and reality in the country.

In a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, the governor urged the Air Force to emulate the state by creating a department of Happiness and Purpose Fulfilment.

He said: “But one thing is certain, if you can observe recently, the level of crisis and agitations are on the increase in the nooks and crannies of the society. While we fight insurgence, I would want to advise that we also should go deep down to find the root cause of this agitation.

“Agitation comes up when people are not happy and the whole essence of life is to be happy. For this reason, I will advise that the Airforce too just like what I have done recently, which most people didn’t understand, should create a department for Happiness and Purpose Fulfillment.

“This will help to address the need of even junior officers, who may have some forms of dissatisfaction in the discharge of their duties. Sometimes you may think that they are happy when they are not and this sabotages the efforts of the Federal Government.”
