‘Ole Oshiomhole Ole’: Voters Protest Election Results In Edo State

2 Min Read

Shouts of ‘Ole Oshiomhole Ole’ (thief Oshiomhole thief) rent the air as the former governor made to leave the INEC office after the results of the Edo elections were announced.

The final result saw APC score 319,483 votes to PDP’s 253,173 votes making APC’s Godwin Obaseki the winner of the elections.

It seems this did not sit well with some voters as they protested the results of the elections shouting on Oshiomhole as he left the INEC office.

A video of the event has surfaced on social site YouTube and in it there are a lot of agitated voters teeming and screaming. They tried to crowd the governor’s entourage but the police kept them at bay.

At a point a man lay in front of one of the police convoys and people made statements like ‘Kill him! Kill him now!’ daring the police to run over the man.

People also had cardboard paper with anti-Oshiomhole and anti-APC messages on them.

Earlier the PDP had said that they were rejecting the result as they believed that the results released by INEC are fake ones and they demanded redress.

They released a statement to that effect yesterday saying that they suspected foul play in the compilation of the results.

You can see the video of the protest by voters against Oshiomhole below.
