Ondo state Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu has recovered from Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)

The Governor made this known during a Press briefing on Monday. He said he tested negative  after two separate tests were conducted to ascertain his COVID-19 status

In another development, Akeredolu has appointed Temitayo Oluwatuyi popularly caled Tukana as the new Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

Announcing Oluwatuyi’s new appointment, Akeredolu on his official Twitter account wrote;

“Today, I announced the appointment of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi “Tukana” as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to resume immediately following the resignation of Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde,”

This is coming after Ifedayo Abegunde (Abena) resigned from the position on Monday morning. There are speculations that Abegunde is loyal to the embattled Deputy Governor who defected to PDP last month.

He communicated this in a letter dated July 6 and addressed to the Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu.

In the terse letter sighted by The Herald, Abegunde thanked the governor for giving him the opportunity to serve in his administration.

Abena, who is an ally of the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, is expected to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), although he has promised to make his next move known in the next 24 hours.

Recall that Ajayi defected from the APC to PDP back in June.

However, the deputy governor vowed not to resign his position no matter the level of intimidation.
