Ondo Poll: PDP May Hold Other Parties, INEC To Ransom – Mimiko

Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, the Ondo state governor has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state may hold other parties to ransom over its unresolved governorship candidacy matter.

Mimiko, while speaking on Sunday at the PDP stakeholders meeting held in Akure, noted that the governorship poll scheduled for November 26, 2016 in the state may not hold because of the state’s PDP’s indecision.

He however expressed confidence that the Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the PDP and its flag bearer, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), would contest the election.

Speaking at the event, Mimiko said: “I don’t know how they will do it, it is impossible for them to deny us our right. Justice will stand and Jegede will contest this election. Election can’t take place in Ondo State without the PDP.”

Mimiko further faulted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for substituting the name of the Makarfi-led faction’s flag bearer, an action which he described as a conspiracy.

He further noted that INEC’s move did not find comfort “in justice, in principle, in law and in morality.”

Expressing further optimism ahead of the governorship poll, Mimiko said:

“Justice will stand and Jegede will contest the election. Election can’t take place without the PDP.”
