A young girl, Peace Bulus, has died and her sister’s arm broken when a bungalow in the Mounted Troop Police Barracks in Ikeja, Lagos State partially collapsed on Tuesday.

The incident was said to have caused the victims’ mother, Hauwa Bulus to collapse due to shock.

The Punch reported that Hauwa and her four daughters were sleeping in their one-room apartment when an explosion occurred inside the building at 3 am.

The explosion was said to have caused the building’s lintel to fall, smashing Peace’s skull and breaking her sister’s arm.

However, Hauwa and her two remaining daughters managed to escape unhurt.

Hauwa, who fainted from the shock, and her injured daughter were said to have been rushed to the Police Clinic in Ikeja for treatment.

When contacted, the victims’ father declined to speak much beyond the statement: “God giveth, and God taketh.”

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Lagos Police Command, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
