A garri seller in Onitsha, Anambra State got more than what she bargained for on Monday when she was punished for increasing the price of her wares arbitrarily.
The female trader was said to have increased the price of a bowl of garri, which recently sold for N500, to N1,500.
Some young men reportedly stormed a market in the town to condemn traders increasing the prices of their products following the uncertainty caused by coronavirus in the country.
While others got a tongue lashing from the angry youths, the garri seller was not so lucky as her wares were spilled on the streets.
A Facebook user, Jestymoore Nnokwa took to the social media page to share the incident.
Nnokwa wrote, “Today In Onitsha, Igbo boys went into town to see those wicked and cruel market women selling food items at exorbitant prices.
“Unfortunately for this garri seller, she was selling garri of N500 for N1500 and the boys threw everything away on the ground.
“They were upset with what they saw in the market today in Onitsha market.
“But do you support the action of the boys? Let’s have your say on this.”
