How Oprah Winfrey saved me from ruining my career – Jamie Foxx

Eric Marlon Bishop better known as Jamie Foxx has revealed how TV personality, Oprah Winfrey saved him and his career with a life-changing phone call.

Foxx stated that if Oprah had not given him an important talk-to that saved him from a downward turn.

Speaking on The Howard Stern Show, Foxx revealed that before he won the Academy award in 2005, he started drinking and partying more than he should, and if it wasn’t for Oprah, his life would have taken a worse turn. He explained that she called him and told him that he was ruining his career.

“All of this gallivanting and all this kind of s**t, that’s not what you want to do,” she told him. “I want to take you somewhere.”

The actor went on to say that Oprah planned an intervention gathering for him at Quincy Jones’ house with other top black actors, including Oscar winner Sidney Poiter, and then all sat Jamie Foxx down and got him to recommit to his career.

This heartwarming revelation comes at the heels of the accusation by actress Mo’Nique who claimed that Oprah blackballed her from Hollywood, killing her career. The actress has been called out for falsely accusing the media guru.
