Orji Kalu Vows to Campaign ‘Day and Night’ for Tinubu Ahead of 2027 Election
Former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has pledged to campaign vigorously for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that the president will win in the Southeast.
Kalu made the declaration during an appearance on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, on Wednesday night.
He dismissed suggestions that he was misleading the president about his chances in the region, insisting that Tinubu’s popularity has grown significantly among the people of Abia State and the Southeast.
“My confidence shows you because in Abia, for the first time, President Tinubu is going to win the state in 2027,” Kalu said. “What gives me the confidence is my interaction with the people. What we had in 2023 was immaterial — I’m looking at the future.”
The lawmaker revealed plans to devote months to grassroots mobilization, promising to stay in Abia for five months to campaign “day and night” for Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“In 2023, I didn’t put in all my best, but in 2027, I will live there for five months, campaigning day and night. It will deliver Abia for Tinubu and the APC,” he stated.
Kalu emphasized that his support for the president is genuine, stressing that he has nothing to gain personally from backing Tinubu.
“I don’t need anything from the president to deceive him,” he said.
The former governor’s remarks come amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, with parties already strategizing to strengthen their foothold across Nigeria’s regions.
