Osas Ighodaro Reflects on Grief and Healing Four Years After Mother’s Passing

Nollywood actress Osas Ighodaro has opened up about the enduring pain of losing her mother, nearly four years after her passing. Speaking during a recent appearance on VJ Adams’ show Off The Top, the actress shared candid insights into her emotional journey and how she continues to navigate life while carrying her grief.
Osas revealed that although time has passed, the sorrow still resurfaces unexpectedly.

“It has almost been four years since my mum passed away and the pain never goes away,” she said. “From time to time the emotion takes over and it can come unawares… I’ve learnt to allow it to take its course, brush it off, and keep it moving.”
Rather than suppress her emotions, Osas explained that she has found healing in allowing herself to fully feel the grief when it arises.
“I allow myself to feel what I’m feeling, then I move forward,” she said.
She also shared that a major source of strength comes from her belief that life’s struggles are temporary. The actress holds on to the hope that one day, she’ll reunite with her mother and have meaningful stories to share.
“Live your life the best way you can so that when your time comes to transition, you have a lot to tell your family over there,” she advised.
Reflecting on how she channels her grief into purposeful living, Osas added,
“I’m trying to live my life so that when I meet my mum long from now, I’d have a lot to gist about.”
The actress’s heartfelt words offer a moving reminder of how grief can linger but also inspire deeper connections with the present.
