Oshiomhole Advises Jonathan Against Contesting 2027 Presidential Election
Former Edo State Governor and ex-Nigerian Labour Party Chairman, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has advised former President Goodluck Jonathan to protect his legacy by avoiding a run in the 2027 presidential election.
Oshiomhole made the remarks while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, asserting that only Jonathan’s political enemies would push him to re-enter the contest.
“How can Jonathan be a threat? We defeated him before, when PDP was at its peak. Only his enemies will push him into the ring,” Oshiomhole said. He warned that a presidential bid in 2027 could be detrimental, predicting Jonathan would be defeated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) if he contested.
Oshiomhole also suggested that Jonathan has already achieved relevance and peace out of office. “If I were him, I would maintain this status and spend the rest of my life consolidating the influence he has already built,” he added.
Jonathan, who served as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost the 2015 presidential election to the late President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC.
