Oshiomhole Has Made PDP Stronger in Edo State – APC Governors Forum DG

The Director General of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Progressive Governors Forum, Salihu Lukman has decried the activities of the past national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole in Edo state.

According to Lukman, the activities of Oshiomhole in the state has made the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stronger.

He said the antics of the former governor suddenly gave life to the campaign of the PDP towards the September 19 Governorship election in the state.

The Governors Forum DG accused Adams Oshiomhole of hijacking the campaign of the APC and pastor Ize-Iyamu in the state, describing the latter as an onlooker in his own governorship campaign.

Issuing a statement of Friday, Lukman said the drums of war have taken over Edo state because of the election.

“Comrade Oshiomhole has relocated to Edo State and taken over the APC campaign and the campaign is proceeding in a manner that suggests the Edo State governorship election is an extension of the personal battle between the governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, and Oshiomhole.

“The APC campaign is personalised around Comrade Oshiomhole and the candidate of the party, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, is an onlooker. The soundbite from the Edo APC campaign is so offensive to the point where Comrade Oshiomhole appears to be disowning almost every APC (member) in Edo State between 2016 and now.

“To that extent, it simply means Comrade Oshiomhole is disowning himself, which may be why he went on his knees begging the Edo people for forgiveness.

“Based on the personalised way the APC Edo State campaign is being carried out, PDP all of a sudden is coming out very strongly to campaign for votes.”

The statement said further that the APC was only running on fumes because of Oshiomhole’s antics, adding that it was the popularity of President Muhammadu Buhari that has kept the party’s chances at elections alive.

He wondered aloud who would become the Governor of Edo state if APC wins the election, since pastor Ize-Iyamu has been sidelined in his own election.

“If our party want Edo people to vote for our candidate, Pastor Ize-Iyamu must be very visible and be seen as the face of the campaign,” Lukman said, adding: “Comrade Oshiomhole should take a backseat and play facilitator role our leaders play in all similar circumstances.” the statement concluded.
