Oshiomhole Speaks On His ‘Issue’ With Bauchi Governor

2 Min Read
Bauchi Governor, Mohammed Abubakar

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole has said that he has no axe to grind with Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar.

Oshiomhole insisted that he was only concerned about the fortunes of the party in the state ahead of the 2019 polls.

Abubakar is said to be at loggerheads with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, who hails from the state, a disagreement that has cast shadows over the party’s electoral chances in 2019.

But Oshiomhole, who hosted Abubakar in his Abuja residence on Wednesday, expressed confidence in the governor.

According to a statement by Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ali Ali, Oshiomhole told Abubakar, “I have no issues with you. My concern is winning the impending elections, especially the presidential one. We want to win more states and more legislators. I have faith in you.”

Abubakar, who is seeking a second term in office, was quoted as saying that he visited Oshiomhole to inform him about the return of his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms to the APC National Secretariat.

According to the statement, the governor was accompanied on the visit by members of the national and state assemblies, members of the state executive council and party stalwarts.
