Osun Re-run: SDP Dissociate Party from Omisore’s alliance with APC

Senator Iyiola Omisore has revealed why he opted to support APC’s Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola as opposed to PDP’s Ademola Adeleke.

Omisore who defected from the PDP to the SDP before the election, said that the PDP said they didn’t need his help, hence his decision to support someone else.

Before the elections, it was determined that the Senator was unlikely to win the elections, and therefore he decided t back Oyetola even though many expected he’d support Adeleke.

Omisore revealed this reasoning in Osogbo on Thursday during a meeting with members of the SDP from across the 30 local government areas of the state.

He added that Presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar, wanted to see him in Oshogbo and discuss with him before the re-run, but was prevented from doing so by the PDP leadership in the state.

His reasons for working with the APC had been espoused earlier by a former Nigerian Ambassador to the Philippines, Dr Yemi Farounbi and Omisore said that all the former ambassador said was right.

“I want to adopt all what Dr Farounbi said. We gave them (APC and PDP) our manifesto. We dwelled on payment of arrears of salaries, pensions and gratuities, on local content, employment for our youths and the reorganisation of the educational system, among others.” Omisore said

“We went to negotiation with a clear mind that Osun must be free and thank God our coalition has produced a new future for the state.

“In addition to what Dr Faroumbi said, the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole, said clearly that our discussion was devoid of any financial commitment. He said they were ready to work.”
