The Oyo State Government has implemented a community participation module in the preparation of local government budget for project identification and execution.

The State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mrs Funmilayo Orisadeyi, stated this on Wednesday while speaking at a town hall meeting held at the Aare Latoosa Local Council Development Area in Ibadan.

Orisadeyi said the purpose of the town hall meeting was to ensure that local government projects were people-oriented and demanded: “so as to meet specific needs as it directly affects the people.”

” Gov. Seyi Makinde wants the people to author the project that will be embarked on in their locality,” she said.

She assured the people that the projects that they identified at the town hall meeting were going to be budgeted for and would be embarked upon as soon as possible.

The commissioner further stated that the Primary Health Centres in each local government would be upgraded so as to work at the optimum level to cater to the basic health needs of the people.

The Caretaker Chairman of Aare Latoosa LCDA, Mr Kazeem Adeniyi, said the town hall meeting was borne out of the governor’s directive to get the community’s input in making budgetary allocations.

He said the budget would be open and transparent for easy public scrutiny and to make project progress assessment easy.
