The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Oyo, Adebayo Adelabu, lost to his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opponent, Seyi Makinde, at the polling unit of Abiola Ajimobi, the current governor.

Makinde garnered 145 votes ahead of Adelabu who had 112 votes at Oluyole Community Grammar School, Ibadan, where the governor voted.
Ajimobi had campaigned vigorously for the APC candidate even after losing his senatorial bid.
