The Oyo State Police Command, on Tuesday in Ibadan, decorated 15 police officers promoted from the rank of Superintendent (SP) to Chief Superintendent (CSP).
While decorating the officers, the state Commissioner of Police (CP), Mr Shina Olukolu, urged them to redouble their efforts and be more committed to the values of the police force.
According to him, promotion comes with additional responsibilities.
“You need to justify your promotion and show that your recommendation for promotion was not a mistake,” he said.
Olukolu, however, expressed the regretted that one of the promoted officers died before the day’s decoration, while another was on sick bed.
Speaking on behalf of the newly-promoted officers, CSP Amos Ajadi, appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, the Police Service Commission as well as the state police commission for the promotion.
He called on officers awaiting their own promotion not to give up, adding that they should not see those promoted as being the best, adding “we were just privileged.”
